The Crown Still Reigning — Ledisi’s Royal Era

It’s been almost four months since Ledisi dropped her twelfth studio album The Crown (April 25), and baby, she’s still holding court.

The single Love You Too is steadily climbing charts, but it’s BLKWMN that’s giving this project its soul-stirring crown jewel status. First performed on the world stage at Super Bowl LIX when she sang Lift Every Voice and Sing, this track landed like a love letter, a battle cry, and a prayer all in one.

What makes The Crown special isn’t just the music — it’s the timing. We’re in an era where Black women are redefining what it means to be seen, heard, and celebrated. Ledisi isn’t just singing; she’s archiving anthems for the soul.

Ledisi doesn’t chase trends — she builds thrones. And when a Black woman takes her time to create something timeless in a world obsessed with the “drop now, fade tomorrow” cycle, that’s resistance. That’s legacy work. This album is a study in faith, craft, and intentionality — things our cultural climate needs more of.
