Juneteenth in Atlanta: Black Joy, Block Parties & Big Energy

Every year, Juneteenth hits different — but being in Atlanta? Baby, this city knows how to do it right.

Today ain’t about corporate posts or awkward red velvet cupcakes in the breakroom. It’s about us — our freedom, our rhythm, our stories, and our healing. And ATL is showing out from all corners of the metro area.

Here’s What’s Going Down Across the City

1. Juneteenth Atlanta Parade & Music Festival (Piedmont Park)

  • Expect a two-mile parade honoring Black history with bands, dancers, and floats

  • Live music stage giving everything from gospel to trap soul

  • Black business market to shop, eat, and support the culture

  • Family zones, community art walls, and even a 5K Freedom Run

This one’s got that full-circle vibe: history, healing, and hot sauce. And the fact that it’s free? Even better.

2. Marietta’s Juneteenth Celebration at Glover Park

Celebrating its 22nd year with food, music, educational booths, and community pride in full swing.

3. Sandy Springs Juneteenth Festival (5–8PM)

Laid-back vibes with a West African drum circle, local art vendors, food trucks, and dance performances. A great family option for something quieter.

4. Chamblee Concert Night

Throwback energy from No Diggity Band and Ray Howard Band — expect a full R&B/Hip-Hop nostalgia set. Great for grown folks who just wanna vibe.

5. Atlanta History Center

Open today with free entry, heritage exhibits, Black artisan spotlights, and oral history recordings that remind us freedom lives in every detail.

Juneteenth isn’t just about what happened in 1865.

It’s about what’s still happening — how we gather, how we remember, how we love on each other. Atlanta’s got that energy today: freedom with flavor, history with hood pride, resistance with rhythm.

Whether you're at a drum circle in Sandy Springs or danced by the stage at Piedmont, today is about us. Black joy is resistance. Black gathering is sacred. And Black futures?

Baby — they’re unstoppable.
