Marvel's Black Panther (2018)

Can we talk about making black history? Or nah?

Marvel's 2018 Black Panther Movie is doing that just that being the first Marvel movie directed by Ryan Coogler a Oakland California born native and brotha. But it doesn't stop there released last weekend on Feb 16, 2018 Black Panther has sold an estimate 202 million dollars in box office tickets during its opening weekend with estimated 235 million as of today. This breaks records such as the Friday to Monday sales making it the biggest ever February opening, beating Marvel's Deadpools record by 50 million on a Monday, who needs the weekend?

Other impressive records broken:
-Biggest Non-Sequel opening
-Biggest Solo Superhero Launch of all time (Sorry Batman)
-Biggest grossing movie in North America directed by a black filmmaker
-Biggest Opening Weekend ever for ANY movie NOT DIRECTED by a WHITE guy
OK yes I capitalized a few of those words. I have heard a ton of people who keep asking what does Black Panther have to do with black history and empowerment?
her then the stero
Empowerment (n.)
authority or power given to someone to do something
the process of becoming stronger and more confident, especially in controlling one's life and claiming one's rights.

Lets be serious this a huge accomplishment for our younger generation to look up to. Let me be one of the many to say "Nigga we made it."  When they say any movie not directed by a white guy, it has been mentioned that it is not the first superhero movie that was not directed by a white guy. I give honorable mention to Spawn directed by Guillermo del Toro, Spawn directed by Mark A.Z. Dippe, and The Meteor Man directed by Robert Townsend, yet they did not break any records.
If you haven't checked out Black Panther I highly encourage you to do so. The movie sports a majority black cast, (cue's Keke Palmer's Melanin) something that is also pleasant to see on the big screen defying the norm of stereotypical roles for black actors and actresses.

Cast Includes:
Chadwick Boseman as Black Panther who also play James Brown in Get Up On It.
Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger who also played Wallace in The Wire
Lupita Nyongo'o as Nakia who won an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress in 12 Years a Slave
Danai Gurrra as Okoye known for her role as Michonne on The Walking Dead
Daniel Kaluuya as W'Kabi who achieved international recognition for his lead role in Get Out
Angela Bassett as Ramonda who doesn't know the beautiful How Stella Got Her Grove Back star?
Letitia Wright as Shuri this being her break out role.

If you've already been to see this box office hit let me know your opinion in the comments.
